Lately I had been confused watching others in the supermarkets of Berlin load their shopping carts with orange, hard persimmons, quite different from the burnt orange, nearly blood orange I find in the markets of Chinatown that must be soft before you should even think of taking a bite.

However, fortunately, while at a market in the Turkish part of town, they had some persimmons slices to sample, and boy was I surprised!
