So I’m late on this one. But if my audience on here is anything like me, you probably looked at some of the costumes from this year’s Met Gala, but did not make a thorough evaluation beyond, “Eh and Not eh”
So today, I, someone who can claims most of her clothing has picked from the sidewalks of NYC, will provide to you an image tour of the costumes Jackie Schimmel, one of the my favorite podcasters of the Bitch Bible podcast (please listen to her; you will not regret it!) mentioned on her 2018 Met Gala review.
Because I shouldn’t be the one to tell you what is what about these costumes, but it’s fun being able to match up these costumes from podcast form, where all you can you do is listen to the opinions, but you have no idea what they link up to visually unless you are sitting in front of a computer, which you probably are not. I, myself, was out for my morning jog and couldn’t thumb through my phone with each call.
So here you go.
“Always kills it”
Rihanna is just beyond!
I find this kind of too expected, but that is so insane stitching and beadwork. It’s more a feat of craft than anything else.
Not mentioned on the podcast, and I hate to support the use of feathers, but I love this dress. The flow at the bottom is bananas.
“Always Fucks it Up”
Personally, I really like this look and find it so playful. No shame Lena. I get what you’re saying.
I feel Marchesa is meant for the Oscars and other award shows. It’s so blegh for the Met Gala. Where is her stylist?
“Always the worst”
I cant see where Jackie is coming from. This is very boring. It looks like a costume from a film, rather than anything worth wearing out to the Met Gala. Plus she’s ultra curvy, vivacious Kate Upton, and this is too demure.
“Over the Ponytail”
Agreed. The dress I don’t mind, by the bow is terrible. The ponytail is her signature, but just because something is your signature does not mean you need to wear it this way all the time!
BTW remember when?
What would you wear to the Met Gala?
I liked Youtuber Taylor R’s response, especially the lion’s mane of flowers around her head inspired by Kendall’s IG photo:
I would love to see more live flowers incorporated into fashion. Where is our real life Poison Ivy?
What would you wear to the Met Gala?! Hard to imagine when we’re not enmeshed in this world of fashion, but just imagine…
