NYC Parks – Highlights of Free and Low-Cost Things to do This Weekend

My FOMO (fear of missing out) this weekend extends to all of the cool city parks events going on this weekend in our 5 boroughs. While I’ll regretfully have to take a pass this weekend as I’ll be enjoying a weekend out of the city with my brother and his fiance-to-be (no pressure. I just love her), there’s no reason you have to miss some of these highlights:

Fall Harvest: Apples, Corn and Pumpkins

10:30 a.m.11:45 a.m. @ Wave Hill, Bronx

Celebrate the fall harvest by sampling some healthy snacks and sharing treats with some furry animal guests. We will also paint with fall fruits and enjoy a nature walk looking for fall colors.

The Boneyard

Listen to storyteller Rama Mandel read “Up in the Garden and Down in the Dirt”, by Kate Messner, with art by Christopher Silas Neal, and hear about the critters at work in the cool damp earth beneath the ground. On a tall hat, make a dark and murky ecosystem of insects and decomposers, like earthworms, ants, protozoa and fungi. Then top it with a flower and march your decomposing troop in a fall parade.

11:00 a.m.4:00 p.m. @ Wave Hill, Bronx
